Privacy Policy

This policy explains how mdview.io handles information when you view, save, process, or share Markdown documents. For privacy questions or requests, contact igor@igorstechnoclub.com.

Documents and account data

Markdown opened from your device can be rendered in your browser without being saved. When you choose to save, publish, share, fix, review, export, or otherwise process a document using a server feature, mdview.io receives the content and the information needed to provide that feature. Public share links can be accessed by anyone who has the URL and may be indexed unless the owner disables indexing or the document does not meet mdview.io's indexing criteria.

Clerk provides authentication and account management. Stripe processes payments; mdview.io receives transaction and entitlement information but does not store full payment-card details. If you connect X, mdview.io processes the authorization and bookmark data needed for the requested synchronization.

AI-assisted features

Features such as Quick Fix, document chat, architecture review, security checks, and generated search descriptions may send relevant document content and instructions to OpenRouter and the selected model provider. Do not submit secrets or personal information that you are not authorized to process.

Analytics and cookies

mdview.io uses PostHog, Ahrefs Analytics, and nocookieanalytics to understand usage, diagnose failures, and improve the service. These providers may receive technical information such as page URLs, device and browser details, approximate location, identifiers, and interaction events according to their own policies.

mdview Desktop offers optional usage statistics. The option appears on the app's welcome page and is checked by default; you can uncheck it there, or turn it off later under Preferences → Privacy. When it is on, the app sends at most one signal a day with a separate random install ID, app version, operating system and its version, processor type (such as x86_64 or ARM), plan, whether the 7-day Pro trial is active or has ended and which day it is on, and counts since the last signal: files opened, PDFs saved, and Save as PDF clicks on the Free plan. It never sends document names, paths, or contents. Turning it off deletes the unsent counts.

Clicking Buy Pro in Desktop opens the website with context identifying the desktop Pro panel or trial-ended notice, the requested feature (if any), whether you are on the trial, past the trial, or on Free, and the app version. This link works whether usage statistics are on or off. It contains no install ID, device ID, or document information. Website activity uses the website's existing analytics.

Save as PDF in mdview Desktop sends the document's Markdown and its local images to mdview.io, which renders the PDF and returns it without storing the document. To make PDFs available during the 7-day Pro trial, the app registers the trial with its random device ID; mdview.io keeps that ID, the trial's start date, and a keyed hash of the network address, used only to limit new trials per network and cleared after 30 days.

Product betas and waitlists

When you join a product beta or waitlist, mdview.io stores your email address, detected platform, and consent so it can evaluate demand and contact you about that beta. Waitlist form content is stored separately from product analytics. You can request deletion at any time.

Use, sharing, and retention

Information is used to operate, secure, support, analyze, and improve mdview.io; fulfill purchases; prevent abuse; and comply with legal obligations. It is shared with service providers only as needed for those purposes, or when required by law. Data is retained for as long as needed to provide the service, meet security, accounting, and legal obligations, or until it is deleted through available product controls or a valid request.

Your choices and rights

You can keep documents local, avoid publishing share links, delete saved documents, disconnect integrations, and request access, correction, deletion, or export of personal data. Requests may require identity verification. Depending on your location, additional legal rights may apply.

This policy may change when the service or legal requirements change. Material updates will be reflected by the date at the top of this page.
